The Legend of the Pearl

I drew this cartoon years ago for my friend Jen H.

She lost one of her pearl earrings when she dove into the swimming pool one evening.

We all immediately assumed the pearl was lost forever. What are the chances of finding a single white pearl beneath 9ft of water in a pool with a white floor? Also, Jen had already enjoyed a few happy hour cocktails, she wasn't wearing her contacts and can't see very well without them, and the setting sun was making the pool area increasingly dark. We stuck around to humor her while she dove in to look for the pearl, but we all shook our heads..... until......

....after only a few dives, she came up with pearl in hand, joking that when she found it on the bottom of the pool, she heard angels sing.

If you ever lose anything in a pool, call Jen.

Oh, and also, this happened during the summer that Paris Hilton made famous the phrase, "That's hot."

And I drew Jen with her glamorous designer sunglasses, because I tease her for always swimming with them on.
